[His phone buzzes in his pocket, distracting him from the tv. Cloud idly fishes it out, unlocking it and looknig down at the text.
From Prompto.
Who is sitting like, just on the other side of the couch, what the hell.
Cloud looks at him, looks back down at his phone. Looks at the tv, then back at his phone again.]
yeah
[Not that he spends hours upon hours thinking about his sexuality. When your love life is as barren as Cloud's, sometimes you just enjoy the attention you can get from any sex.
Regardless, he's pretty sure he has found himself attracted to women, so. An affirmative response.]
[from prompto's side of the couch, prompto buries his head onto the arm of the couch and makes a sound of an uncomfortable animal--much like he's suffering--after he reads the text.]
[dammit cloud. you reply, and you do it via text to indulge your cowardly lil bro?]
[he's suffering]
[...
starts typing after a moment]
no i'm running a survey don't worry about it do you think people who aren't straight are wrong or weird or a disappointment
[at this point, between prompto's text and cloud's reply, prompto has managed to push up the corner of the bottom cushion and is sitting sort of under it, keeping himself hidden]
[....this is totally normal]
just a survey yep don't ask too many questions
[prompto]
anyway thx
[nothing has changed; he still feels like he's going to throw up out of nervousness]
[If he thinks Cloud is just going to leave it at that, he's very wrong.
He puts his phone down, then looks over at Prompto who's now hiding from him via cushion. Cloud extends a foot from the other end of the couch and pushes light into it, trying to grab his attention.]
[Guess they'll just be stuck like this forever. Or until Prompto decides to move. Doesn't matter, because Cloud is not beyond having a conversation like this.
[this is probably a good thing, because if prompto would have to have a conversation while sitting proper, face-to-face, he might just about combust or shut down. thus why he did the initial questioning via texting, halfway hoping that cloud would be less awkward and actually bring it up into the realm of normal conversation.]
[part of prompto wished it didn't, but here they are now, and opening up to family is a concept prompto is still trying to get the right measurements of; he doesn't want to be overbearing, but also the amount of reassurance and validation he wants is incredibly overwhelming.]
Right. Uh.
[he adjusts on the cushion, trying to get comfortable]
So, I've been thinking... maybe I'm... y'know, [his face finds itself closer and closer to the cushion] not as straight as I may [and his voice does too, becoming smaller and smaller] thought I was...
[Cloud is a blunt soul. That's just how he is, as it often seems to be with people who are a bit stoic suddenly opening their mouths. The question obviously has no judgement behind it, though he blinks a few times before he outright says:]
So... [Can you hear the gears in Cloud's brain working? Even if it isn't all that complicated, honestly.]
You're bisexual?
[This must be really embarrassing for Prompto, which Cloud can parse by the way he's acting. His foot squishes at a cushion in his brother's direction again.]
[prompto pushes himself up, bangs covering his eyes, but he's not specifically trying to hide his face. he glances furtively at his brother than back at his hands, twisting around on a piece of thread from the cushion between fingers.]
I guess. I dunno. I'm still trying to work out the whole "I like guys" bit. I always thought it was bad if I did, so I... never stopped t'think about it.
[never stopped to consider that he wanted to spend time with a classmate or another despite his shyness not just because they were "cool," but because he found himself attracted to them.]
No! It's just... It's generally considered wrong. To be gay? Right? I mean, so if you feel weird being around me now or something... it's okay. I get it.

A glance over at Prompto, then a look at his phone again. Click click as he types a very concise reply.]

Hey.

[attention, caught. prompto pushes at the cushion a bit until it's sitting vertically between him and the other cushion, creating a wall.]
[...]
[after a moment, he pushes it down and lies down on top of it, cloud's outstretched leg caught under it]

Did someone tell you that it would be?

[Dude?]
I'm not going to judge you for it. I don't care if you like girls or guys or whatever... I'm not going to call you "wrong".
