you just got here! don't stress yourself out over it! having something easy to handle can be a blessing many don't have! i got a job at an electronics store recently because delivery boy was getting too difficult and time consuming and now i have consistent hours so i get it!!
oh if you need a new phone btw...... or i can have a look at it
i'll find a balance one way or another, it's like you said, though having something easy is nice for now until things get settled.
[It's easy enough to say that, at least.]
do you like working at an electronics store? because i was honestly thinking of getting a new one sometime next week. i can stop by unless you'd prefer to look at it? but it's old anyway.
yeah i feel like i actually know the stuff i'm talking about when it comes to electronics at the store how old is old? there's a couple of cheap models that are maybe a generation or two behind the newest but they're really good still
not necessarily but the os is probably incompatible with new updates and most apps it's kinda crazy that apps get updated almost every other week but the actual device just falls behind when companies want you to just buy a new one it's gonna be hard to find spare parts for a 3 year old model...
[Friday... plenty of time to figure out where it is.
When Friday swings around, he will indeed be found at Stanley's Electronics. He looks around to see where he can possibly find Prompto, not necessarily approaching any of the other employees that are already working there.]
[the electronics section includes, also, a photo developing counter. prompto's at the help desk, printing out some photographs for a trio of teen girls. he looks at the photographs as he packs them up, making sure there's nothing wrong with the printing, and smiles.]
Happy memories, huh? You girls look great.
[he hands it over, along with the price for them. the girls giggle behind their hands, fighting over who gets to pay, but prompto's used to this. besides, he doesn't get it? he's flushed from a fever he doesn't know he's about to fall victim to, he's exhausted from work+gym+classes combo, and he could do with having a snack. another two more hours and he's home free, though. so he sports his best smile and sees the girls off, smiling big and thanking them, hoping to see them again.]
[as he follows them out the store with his eyes, he spots a figure that is quickly becoming very familiar. the girls glance over at him, dark clothes and spiky blond hair, giggling, again.]
[just like that, his energy is back.]
[approaching his brother and leaving the help desk empty for now, he excitedly falls into step next to cloud, who is looking at... headphones?]
Earphones are best if you want to use them while at work. Listening to music while on your bike isn't safe, but I bet you knew that.
[The headphones he means. He had just turned to the nearest section, so that he didn't look too awkward just standing there and waiting for someone in particular, ignoring the gaggle of girls who had walked past just moments before.
Not that this made him look any less awkward, mind you. He had just been staring at the headphones blankly until Prompto decided to walk up to him.]
[he jokes, because cloud is humoring him by coming here at all, and prompto puts on the effort of putting one set of headphones on the right rack. someone must have grabbed them and just tossed them wherever on the shelf. turning to cloud, he pushes his bangs to the side and then puts his hand out.]
[cloud came here for something, right?] --phone?
We got some stuff on sale, but if I buy it I can have the employee discount. It's not much, five percent, but it's something. How much are you considering for your budget?
[Lost? He scoffs, but there's humor in it. A hand is shoved into his pocket, the other makes a vague gesture before dropping back at his side.]
I dunno.
[Which makes this sound like an impulse buy, but after having to load Retrospec and his phone taking an unfortunate fall to the pavement, it kind of is necessary.]
I mean, I don't need an eight-hundred dollar phone, if that's what you're thinking. But I've got some saved up, so I can afford something nice -- just not that nice, you know? I'm going to have to...
[He pauses.] I just want something that'll load this stupid app without me having to wait a hundred years.
[cloud's frustration at his phone is blatant. and he really wants a good deal for his brother, his own sales commission be damned. he's not going to sell a super expensive phone to him when one on the cheaper spectrum can do the job.]
[he goes on around to a different aisle, asking cloud to follow him]
Since you're driving your bike a lot and all, it's probably a good idea to invest on a protective case. So no matter how many times it falls out of your pocket or whatever, it'll still be good.
[he stops by the phones area, and looks around at the products on offer.]
This one's on about 350, after taxes. It's a pretty decent model. [pointing at one, he then turns his attention to another] But for another forty dollars you can get a similar model with a bigger screen. The OS would be more updated, too, and could withstand bigger app files, not to mention it'd have more memory.
[the phone is shiny in how new it is, and its design is slick and modern. perhaps a lot thinner than what cloud's current phone is.]
--I could always just install better system settings with some coding tricks. The camera's real neat, too, 8Mp - f/1.9 for the rear camera, which is-- pretty decent. Dunno how into picture-taking you are. Still.
[decides to stop talking, looking over at cloud]
Is that alright or you want something cheaper? There's definitely options.
[He looks over at the phone, picking it up the one on display and turning it around in his hand for moment or two. He listens quietly to everything Prompto has to say about it, not interrupting.
He shakes his head.] No, this isn't too expensive. It's about the price range I came in expecting.
[He looks over at his little brother, tilting is gaze ever so slightly. Prompto really sounds like he knows what he's talking about, though it's not like he expected anything less.]
You're probably right about the protective case. Kind of like a helmet for my phone, right?
[he smiles, honestly pleased to have found something along the lines of what cloud was initially looking for. if he had to be honest, he had been thinking what exactly cloud would like best. it's not like he just guessed! there's been thought put into this!]
Yeah, like a helmet! Also a screen protector. Those always come in handy so that your screen doesn't get scratched.
What color do you want your phone? There's black, rose gold, and white. The protective cases are over-- [he straightens, and points to the right] on that wall. You can check them out, see which one you prefer while I ring up the total and pull up the guarantee.
[Which should not at all be surprising given what Prompto has already seen of Cloud. All of his riding gear is black. His sunglasses are black. His motorcycle is black. Of course his phone is going to be black.]
All right. Won't take me long.
[And it's true. Because he wanders over the phone cases (some very plain, some quite extravagant), and it's only a minute or two that passes before he comes up to Prompto at the register.
The one he's chosen has a symbol of a wolf on the back. Because of course it does.]
[mildly serious, he's already put in the total for the phone, and scans the phone case. the total comes a little under 400, but it's significantly less than that when prompto inputs his employee discount. should he be doing this? it's fine; it's like he's buying it for himself, if anyone asks.]
[that done, he tells cloud the total and starts opening up the phone. it comes with a charger, and prompto's taking out the battery and displaying the phone's insides to make sure everything is good to go]
Y'got your old phone? I can set it up so you leave with a functional, new phone.
